Concrete countertops have a reputation.
Concrete countertops have a reputation, and most of it comes from how they used to be made. Cast off-site, they're heavy enough to need reinforced cabinets and several people to set. Cast in place, they mean forms, mess, and a kitchen out of service for a long stretch. Either way it's a demolition job first — the existing tops come out and go in a dumpster before anything new goes in.
Which is a shame, because the material itself is exactly what people want: matte, tactile, warm in a way stone isn't, and it doesn't look like anything else in a kitchen.

The substrate stays. We bond to it.
The Leggari® Concrete Overlay Countertop system builds the concrete surface directly onto your existing tops. Laminate, tile, wood, or stone — the substrate stays, we bond to it, and the finish that results looks and feels like poured concrete.
No tear-out means no dumpster, no cabinet damage, no plumbing disconnection in most cases, and no week of eating off a folding table. It also means no weight problem, because it's a surface build rather than a slab.
The finish is a real cementitious material, hand-worked and then sealed. It has the tonal variation and matte tactility of concrete, not a printed approximation of it.

Questions About Concrete Countertops.
What can it go over?
Laminate, tile, wood, and stone. The existing tops need to be sound and attached — we evaluate that at the estimate.
Do the cabinets have to be reinforced?
No. This is a surface build, not a cast slab, so the weight the cabinets carry barely changes. That's the main practical advantage over traditional concrete tops.
Can I set a hot pan on it?
The sealer is heat resistant, but as with any sealed surface a trivet is the right habit for anything straight off a burner.
Is it stain resistant?
Yes, once sealed. Wine, coffee, and citrus wipe up. As with natural stone, spills shouldn't sit overnight.
How long is my kitchen out of service?
Most kitchens are two to three days of work, plus cure time before heavy use. We give you the exact schedule at the estimate.
Will it crack?
Because it's bonded to a solid substrate rather than spanning between cabinets, it isn't subject to the flexing that causes cracking in cast slabs.
