The Problem
Bare concrete is a surface that fights you.
Bare concrete is a surface that fights you. It's porous, so it drinks up oil, brake fluid, and road salt and holds onto all of it. It sheds dust onto everything stored on it. And once Indiana's freeze-thaw cycle finds a weak spot, the pitting spreads a little further every winter.
The usual answer is a roll-on epoxy kit from a big-box store. Those fail for one reason: they're rolled onto concrete that was never opened up. Acid etching doesn't create a real bonding profile, so the coating sits on top of the slab instead of locking into it, and the first hot tire that parks on it in August takes a patch of it back up.

A flake floor is a broadcast system, not a paint. A pigmented base coat goes down, then decorative vinyl flake is broadcast into it until the surface won't take any more — that's what "full broadcast" means. The excess gets scraped and vacuumed the next day, and a clear topcoat locks everything in.
The flake does more than look good. It acts as reinforcement inside the coating, which is part of why a broadcast floor takes impact better than a solid color. It also adds natural texture underfoot and hides the imperfections in the slab underneath, which matters on an older garage that's seen twenty winters.
We grind every floor mechanically before anything goes down. Diamond grinding opens the concrete's pores so the base coat bonds into the surface rather than resting on it. That's the whole difference between a floor that's still down in year ten and one that lifts in year three, and it's why our number won't be the lowest one you get.

Flake size — 1/4" is standard. Larger chip reads bolder and hides more.

Questions About Flake Floors.
How long before I can park on it?
Light foot traffic the same evening in most cases. Vehicles typically two to three days depending on the system and the temperature. We give you the exact schedule at the walk-through.
Do I have to empty the garage?
Completely, before grinding starts. We can help with heavy items, but the floor has to be clear.
Will it be slippery when wet?
A coated floor is smoother than bare concrete, but full-broadcast flake has real texture from the chip itself. If anyone in the house is unsteady on their feet, we add anti-slip aggregate to the topcoat.
What about the coating that's already on there?
It gets ground off as part of prep. That adds time, so it's evaluated and quoted separately once we've seen it.
My floor has cracks. Is it too far gone?
Almost never. Cracks and spalling get repaired before coating — that's included in the process, not a reason to skip it. What actually rules a slab out is active structural movement, and we'll tell you straight if that's what we're looking at.
How is this different from a store kit?
Prep and material. A kit is a thin rolled coating over an acid-etched slab. This is a mechanically ground profile, a professional base coat, flake broadcast to rejection, and a commercial topcoat.
